PARISH COUNCIL MEETINGS ---- CURRENT KEY ISSUES
1..BRIDPORT WASTE MANAGEMENT CENTRE
Following the disclosure, in mid summer, of plans to site the Bridport Waste Management Centre on the Burton Road at Wych Farm, the Parish Council wrote a letter to the D.C.C. and the Contractors involved, S.I.T.A. objecting on grounds of the noise and visual impact on the environment, increased hazardous traffic congestion and the creation of a mini industrial zone with the adjacent water treatment plant. They were asked to reconsider alternative site(s). Other concerned parties also raised similar objections.
S.I.T.A. now report that the have re-examined their proposals, taking into account the comments received and particularly the highway issue, but they still consider the Burton Road site the best option and intend to submit a planning application with an Environment Impact Statement. They are holding exhibitions to present their modified plans in Bridport and Bothenhampton on 20th and 21st November.
The Council will consider what further action to take once the revised plans have been seen.
2. PLANNING APPLICATIONS.
A Planning Application to connect "Swaffield", the property alongside the "Rookery", by a bridge across the leat onto Grove Road for vehicular access is being objected to after rejection by a majority of the Council.
The Council is objecting to a Planning Application for the erection of a Vodophone Mobile Telephone Mast on the outskirts of the village off Barr Lane.
3. PRECEPT.
No precept will be sought for the coming financial year.
4. PARISH CLERK
The current Parish Clerk, Mr Peter Colbert, retires from the post in July next year and advertisements will shortly be placed seeking a replacement.
