BURTON BRADSTOCK PARISH COUNCIL
MAJOR ISSUES AT OCTOBER MEETING
· Speeding traffic through
village
A request had been made to the HIGHWAYS AND TRANSPORTATION DEPT of DORSET
COUNTY COUNCIL for rumble strips to be laid at either end of the village
just before the 30mph signs on the B3157 in order to try and slow down
traffic passing through the village. The suggested positions are well away
from any housing to minimise noise inconvenience. Cameras had also been
requested but there is along waiting list for these and Burton Bradstock
comes well down the priority list.
· Sea Water Quality off Burton
Beach
The Council is pressing to have Burton beach designated separately from
West Bay so that the water is tested here as well as at West Bay and that
the true quality of the sea water off Burton is known and not linked in
with that at West Bay . At the suggestion of the ENVIRONMENTAL AGENCY a
letter will be written to the DEPARTMENT OF THE ENVIRONMENT, TRANSPORT AND
REGIONS (DETR) requesting this.
